A SMALL SLICE OF HOME GROWN DESIGNERS
I’ve been missing home(New Zealand) a lot lately. The food, the open spaces but also really miss some of the influential designers. New Zealand is very unique for fashion and has its own take on understated. Although there has been a big gap in the market for over the last 10 years it has really stepped up its game. The boutique designers have really emerged and expanded over to New York, Tokyo, Paris, London all over the world really. A great example of this is Karen Walker. She is one of my favourite designers from home.
I love how she incorporates a New Zealand flavour with her fabrics and prints based on native plants and designs. I especially am so in-love with her jewellery collection. I am an accessories junkie and from season to season this never fails to disappoint me. She adds sweetness and rock roll into all of her pieces. With such good quality I can understand why it is at a higher price point. However if you are a silver lover then the price is actually amazing! I have added some pieces below that are on my Christmas wish list. It is a mixture of all silver, gold and rose gold depending on your taste.
This star due set reminds me of being a child in the 80’s, wear together or separately. Team up with your favourite oversized cardigan and a great slip dress!
I love gold and rose gold. They can be such opulent colours and look amazing next to tonal and contrasting bases. With the cooler months upon us why not pair them up with some luscious velvet pieces, either with a Bardot top, cold shoulder top or a stunning cocktail dress. These metals would look amazing against the velvet texture.
These are my favourite pieces from her collection. The heartbreak ring and necklace. These will go with everything I really mean it! They are so classic and pretty so you could wear them layered with other jewellery pieces or a stand alone! Can’t quite deride if I want silver or rose gold though hmm!
The final silver trinkets are just ones I randomly came across in Karen’s webpage I think the filigree ring, the flower pot, and the star necklace. are great everyday pieces which are so understated yet intricately designed. If you like to wear a lot of black silver is always a winner when adding your hardware!
